Lahore board is a board whose responsibility is to promote education in Pakistan by conducting examinations that are fair, unbiased and transparent. The board was established in 1954 through the promulgation of Punjab University Act.

The panel handles examinations from different provinces. For example, it handles examinations in provinces of Baluchistan, Punjab, Azad Kashmir and northern areas. For example, it handles the exams in Kuwait and Kenya.

Composition of the Board

The board is guided by the Pakistan constitution and has the following members:

  • Chairman
  • Vice chancellor of a university
  • Executive district education officers that live within the board’s jurisdiction
  • Director of technical education, Punjab, Lahore
  • A representative of the finance and education departments
  • A principal of a degree offering institution that is situated within the board’s jurisdiction
  • A principal of an intermediate college
  • Two headmasters and one headmistress
  • Two individuals nominated by the controlling authority

Certificates Awarded

The panel awards certificates for two types of examinations: matriculation and intermediate examination. At the Matriculation level, the board awards certificates to candidates who sit for science and art examinations.

At the intermediate level the panel awards certificates to students who have sat for these examinations: Arts, computer science, pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering, General Science, and Commerce.


The board of intermediate and secondary education conducts the examinations every year. After you have done your examination, you need to wait for the results which are usually announced at the end of July or at the start of August (if you have sat for the secondary examination). If you have sat for the Intermediate exam, you have to wait for the results at the end of August or at the start of September.
